FOOD EXCELLENCES, COOPERATION AND DIALOGUE

The Fisheries Production District COSVAP is the organizer of the event Blue Sea Land - Expo of Agro-food Districts in the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East that will be held in Palermo, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala, Gibellina from 8th to 11th October 2015 in collaboration with the Sicilian Region, the Municipalities of Palermo, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala, Gibellina, the Observatory for Mediterranean Fisheries, the Competence Center, Trapani’s Chamber of Commerce, Confindustria Sicily, Coldiretti, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies and the Ministry of Economic Development.

Scenarios of this extraordinary event are the city of Palermo, and the old historical center of Mazara del Vallo – the Casbah – that still keeps the colors, shapes and scents of the ancient civilizations, including especially the Arab-Muslim one who left a clear sign in the society of this Mediterranean town.

Blue Sea Land is a showcase that originates from the desire to aggregate Italian, Mediterranean, African and the Middle Eastern Productive Districts of the agro-food and fishing sectors. It aims to strengthen the cooperation among the participating countries and to promote economic, social, institutional and cultural integration among peoples through seminars, meetings, conferences, expo, BtoB meetings, cultural events.

The initiative coincides with the Italian Presidency of the European Union Council and will take place on the eve of Milan EXPO 2015. Blue Sea Land is in line with the objectives of the Expo Milano 2015, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for life” because also this initiative "captures the urgent need to discuss about Men’s history and food production, in its double meaning of enhancement of cultural traditions and search for new technological applications". Blue Sea Land "does not want to be just a showcase of products but also a cultural landmark to grow and change, enhancing interactions among peoples and respecting the Planet."

The focus is on the internationalization of enterprises, the creation of economic and institutional partnerships in order to promote the products. Environmental associations, agro-food enterprises, buyers, scientific and cultural institutions, employers' organizations and trade unions of agricultural sector, Regions and Districts, public and private institutions, universities, schools, companies will be present at the event.
